You were like the fiction of water on the desert sand. . .

The deadline is here, tomorrow I am sending off my submission for the Penland School Studio Assistant Program.  I have applied for Session 6 & 7, but I really want Session 7 with this Kyu Yamamoto guy, I just looked at his website and I am even more pumped about his class - based on his artwork etc.

As far as my Artist's Way class, totally rocking. My goal this week is to write a poem, which I think I am going to submit to this Mountain Xpress poetry contest-- for funskees, see what happens you know? So far I think it is about heartbreak (overdone much?) but in the context of this visceral sub-Saharan lioness devouring prey but then it ends up being a mirage, yeah basically awesome.

I am a little behind on the repetition, texture Photo assignment, so far I have one photo, as seen here. Been over focusing on getting this Penland stuff together -- looking forward to all the 'free time' I will have when that is in the mail tomorrow. I will find out March 31st what the real deal is.

I think the next big thing is revisiting some portraiture I have been neglecting in the basement. I've been having a lot of dreams about lotus flowers, interested to see where I go with that. Very zen.

Internal Frames and other points of view

So I have been taking a digital photo class, among other things for the last several weeks.  It's been good, and combined with "The Artist's Way" workshop I have been keeping pretty busy and making some personal break throughs on an emotional as well as creative level -- also good.
This photo album is the direct result of my first assignment in the Intermediate Digital Photography class, the assignment being "Internal Frame".
As we all know, we are our own harshest judge and of the 120 pictures I took, only 3 made the cut, only two are truly internal frame in my opinion and I put the last two in because they are rad photos but I did not take them in class -- one is in Santa Cruz from last March and the other is from a long time ago trip to DC where there was this amazing water fountain in the Cincinnati airport.
Here is another photo that didn't make the cut (too blurry) but I have a soft spot for it anyway. Cheers.
