The Big Crafty?

Currently working on some prototypes for a submission to The Big Crafty. This craft show runs for one day in December at Pack Place in downtown Asheville, I believe. Amy, who was pictured with me in the last post, is kind of at the helm of the whole thing, and I believe there will be four of us sharing one booth (and they said three's a crowd!).  I have been creating some new illustrations, although I had several in a sketch book that is missing - gah! But always creating something new is the name of the game.

The idea is to take these and "frame" them. I have been toying with ways to mount the illustrations using rubber cement.  Upon some recent experimentation I think I am going to switch to a clear varnish as the rubber cement I have been working with is remaining too sticky on the surface.

Here are the prototypes I have been working on. These are the photographs I am submitting to register for the show.

City of 1,000 Easels

This year I participated in the Asheville Area Arts Council City of 1,000 Easels. Although not numbering in the thousands, over 100 local artists participated, setting up their easels and canvases all over downtown at designated locations.

I was located in front of the flat iron building, on the corner of Wall St and Battery Park Avenue.

Thanks to all of you who came out to show support!

Note: I did not finish the canvas in the above photos. Check back for uploaded photos of the finished work.
